Regarding my recent post(s) on facebook.

Now that I have had a few days to get my thoughts together, and due to primarily not being able to sleep currently, I decided to go ahead and write down my blog regarding my statement on facebook the other day.
At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do this in video or not, but quite frankly, it's too damn cold to go outside and film this, and everyone in the house is asleep, so that leaves me with typing this out ( so bear with me ).
Firstly, my new diet and exercise regiment has not gone as planned at all yet for the month of October. In fact, even though I have attempted to get it up and running, but it's been a rather stressful month. As many of you know, I hate drama, and so therefore, I will not go into any SPECIFICS, but suffice it to say, I hate drama. Adults acting immature and like little kids quite frankly annoy me. Secondly, people who are so manipulative that when it's time for them to step up and be an adult, and deal with life; and only want to pass the buck off to someone else, annoy me. That is all I will say about this issue. Another issue is that shortly after I started this new journey, we finally got authorized to move. Meanwhile, attempting to move, I also had to work, and my wife was co-coordinating a party that was just this past weekend. So, the moving has taken roughly the full 30 days that we were authorized to move from one location to the next. So, my gym time had to suffer because if I was at home, and didn't have time to help move, but had time to go to the gym... well, that is not directly fair to my wife. Nor would it have been fair had I been too sore to help her move because of being in the gym either.
Second issue I wanted to talk about: I have allowed myself to basically go to the way side for quite some time. I know why too, that is the sad part. However, as of right now, I will not go into exact details to the issue. But this issue has caused me to drink more beer than I am normally used to, and so therefore I have been consuming a lot of empty calories, and therefore I have put on some weight. I weighed myself last night and I am up to 213 lbs. As of right now, I am going to forego any and all beer until 31 Dec.... New Year's eve. I have already given up hard liquor, but I am still not 100% free from it. I just have cut my consumption back by 99% I'd say. I've also quit using smokeless tobacco, and have gone to using an e-cig type tool. Thanks mostly to the support of my wife, and my good friends over at X-treme Vape. So, to quit using smokeless tobacco after 11 years, and only inhale basically flavored nicotine, and exhale water vapor, I am extremely happy with. To give up hard liquor was a challenge, but then I fell back on to beer. Which,  ironically I went to hard liquor after my surgery cause I knew beer would make me bloated and add weight back on.... lol. Again, what matters the most is being able to recognize the issue, and be at least willing to admit the issue / problem and then resolve it. That, to me, is how winning is done. Not sitting around blaming other influences as to why you ( or myself included ) have problems.
Third issue to discuss: My diet. As of right now, it has SUCKED... SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED. However, starting 1 November... this friday... day after today, a little bit less than 24 hours away, my diet is going to go back old school. I am taking my diet for the first 30 days or so back to a time where it worked for me. I am going on the diet that I have given so many of you to jump start your diets and bringing you online into the world of losing weight. I've lived it once, I've preached it multiple times, and so therefore I am not above re-living it again. It's gonna suck, I know it will. It sucked the first time I did it, I know it sucked for just about everyone of you that I gave it to, and so it's gonna suck now. However, it needs to be done. Im talking about the all you can eat salads, fruits, veggies, and water you can handle. Additionally, all the tuna / white fish you want, plus protein shakes. These are going to be my main staples for the next 30 days. I'll have a cheat day once a week ( most likely mondays ), and I am going to be incorporating chicken as well, but for the most part, my day to day meals will be salads, tuna / white fish, and water. For my caffeine intake, I will be relying heavily on caffeine pills, and the caffeine that will be in my fat burner supplements, coffee too will play a role.
Fourth issue: I have some goals set in mind, aside from the ones that I have already announced as to why I am doing this new journey. These are goals that I would love to announce, however out of respect to certain elements, I will not yet do so, if ever. But, they are opportunities that I am really excited about, and ones that I hope come to fruition.
Fifth issue I wanted to talk about: Supplementation. Currently I am rather covered with supplements.... sort of. The one I need the most, I am covered on the least. LOL!! There is a new version of the current Fat Burner that I am taking that I can not wait for it to hit the shelves so that I can try it...But anyways, when it comes to supplementation, make sure you do your research. Don't be afraid to ask around and see what others' are using and trying. Find out what works for them. It's kind of like what I've been telling everyone that's every asked me about supplements. I might like Dodge's, and I've never had a problem with them, however, you may be a Chevy fan, or a Ford fan. That's ok, the vehicle will still get you there. Having said that, I am also currently under going an experiment with regards to supplementation and changing things. To see if the results are better or the same.
Well, now that I have gotten all of this out in the open, I feel a lot better about myself and I am really excited about 1 November. My deadline of May 18th will stay the same to accomplish the goals I've set out. In all reality, the only thing I've truly lost was 2 weeks ( effectively ). Another reason why I wanted to get all of this off my chest is to prove and show to everyone out there, that I too have to work just as hard as you have had to, or currently do in your diet and exercise regime. I am not free from messing up and having to suffer the consequences of such. I do not own a free pass just because I had my surgery. Now, and for the rest of my life it is about maintaining. So, lets all do this together, follow along side of me, and I will be there for each and everyone of you; cause believe it or not, each and everyone of you have been there for me....

12 Oct 2013

So to say the first real week of the diet is under the belt would be a safe thing to do. However, it was not one of my most stellar weeks truth be told. This week was everything but a dieting / training week.
Monday was Melissa's birthday and so we celebrated that with some friends. Then on tuesday, we got the keys to our new house, and so we had an early house warming celebration as it were. The food wasn't the issue, it was the drinking beer aspect for me. Then, the rest of the week was spent moving and organizing and more moving, and cleaning, and then more moving. So, I really didn't have adequate time to plan meals, cook meals, or go to the gym.
So the moral of the story is, diet and gym time suffered this week due to my own laziness, but also due to the honest effect that I have been just absolutely swamped.

Talk to y'all cats in a few days!

first few days

( PLEASE NOTE::: FROM HERE ON OUT, UNLESS I SPECIFICALLY SAY SO, I REPEAT, UNLESS I SPECIFICALLY SAY SO, all my exercises in the gym will be with Fat Gripz Extreme )

So, the first few days of any diet, or life altering change are always the hardest, regardless of how often they occur ( ie on season, off season, on diet, off diet )... so too is true with me.

Last Sunday ( really early in the morning, like 1 am )  was my first time in the gym in a long time, and I can tell you, it felt like going home for thanksgiving supper. I felt a quiet voice say to me " welcome home ". Odd to most, I know and understand, but it was real. I dropped my weight a lot in the gym and went with what I thought would be a good starting point. For this iteration, I did chest and tricep exercises. I did dumbbell presses, started at 20 lbs, and eventually worked up to 35 lbs. I did 3 sets of 10. I also did 3 x 10 of 35 lbs butterfly's. I did tricep cable pull downs at 35 lbs ( 3 x 10 ), and tricep extensions at 15 lbs ( 3 x 10 ). I also did inclined bench press at 65lbs for 3 x 10.
By the time I was done in the gym, and not even get to the shower, I was sore as hell. I mean I was HURTING... so I know I did something right. I live for that pain.. My diet was Swai fish and veggies. I love Swai. It is a great white fish, and I get mine at the local wal-mart in the freezer section. I also had a sensible salad throughout the evening.

Monday is my cheat day. Always has been, and most likely always will be. Reason why is because it's my first day off from work ( unless I'm working OT ) and I have an opportunity to just veg and eat what I'd like. Well, this monday was a bit more special, but no different than any other Monday. It was the wife's birthday, and so we celebrated. And threw my diet out the window lol..
Now it is currently Tuesday night, and my diet pretty much suffered. We spent most of the day moving from our current house to our new house ( literally next door ) No time to prep food, no time to cook specific food, and if any of you who are readying this have ever moved in your life, you will understand.
Although today was not spent in the gym, I did get an opportunity to lift some heavy objects, and I was up and about moving, which to me is a lot better than just sitting on my laurels and doing nothing.

All in all, I feel really good and positive about this challenge and I know I will be successful in accomplishing what I have set out... I am just so humbled by y'all reading what I'm writing and watching what videos I'm making... please don't hesitate to expose my blogs and vlogs to your friends, you never know, I just may talk about something that they are looking for!

The beginning...

    Dear Friends and Family alike:

Welcome back to old friends, and welcome to my new friends. As many of you know I have always done what I've set out to accomplish, especially these past 3 years. Well, now is no different, and now it is time to do it all again.
For those of you who paid attention about a week or so ago, I set out a new challenge, and I put down what the challenge is, what it will be, and the rewards were given for accomplishing that goal. Just to restate what the challenge is: By May 18th, 2014 I am going to pull a deadlift of over 400 lbs, a squat of over 200 lbs, and a bench press of over 200 lbs, and lose about 25 lbs of body fat / weight.
To a few of you, those numbers are rather easy to achieve, and I was close to a few of those when I was training to do my big vehicle pull last year. However, I took about a year off from the gym and just sat around doing nothing, except working. There was a time that I was doing some gym stuff, but work got so hectic that I stopped. My problems, and no one elses'. I am the only one to blame for that.
Now, having said all of that, I have some reasons for what I am doing, and why I am doing it. Please allow me some time to go through these:

     1) 2 family members in my direct life have been diagnosed with cancer. Both of them are true warriors in the sense of the word and are fighting to get better and healthier. One is a current United States Marine, serving this country proudly. I am humbled by his joyous attitude and outlooks on life, as he fights through this phase in his life that is trying to take control. To me, instead of the cancer being the killer, he is being the Grim Reaper to the cancer. To him, I say HOORAAAH. The second, is my step mother. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her lung/bone area and she is fighting it off as well. She is a strong willed woman, and like most other women in my life ( my mom, my wife, my daughters, and my grandmother ( may God be with her ) ), I am afraid of my step mom. She will wallop the piss up out of ya if ya need it, regardless of age! I love you Momma Lorie! ( editors note: *** Sorry to mention the both you of, but it was done out of love and to show a sense of reality *** )

    2) As most of you know, the US Government has been facing some major struggles lately, and it has taken a toll financially on my family and I. We have pushed through these furloughs and government shut downs with our heads held high and persevering through it all. We don't always have extra money to do things, but at the end of everyday, we have ourselves, and each other. It has made us stronger and better as a family for it. One thing I have not done is felt sorry for my family, or myself.. We have made the hard ground a lush green pasture of enjoyment.

   3) A few of my friends ( Cimmaron Kuskie, Kelly Adele, Cynthia Estrada Miller, Kyle Burker, etc etc ) have been doing some amazing things for themselves and they too have pulled themselves out of their own ruts and the mud that they were in and are doing it right. They are living a better healthier life. They each have said it's because of me, but yet, I some how fail to see that. However, I do appreciate their hard work and efforts and am so glad for the influences that they have become to their friends. What a way of paying it forward.

So, with these just a few of these simple reasons, I have decided to take the strengths of these people, and move forward..and to go bigger and better, for my own self. Now... here is another big aspect that I wanted to mention to you readers. For every pound I lose, I will donate $1. For every pound I lift and squat ( at the end of the challenge, meaning the total weight I move at the end, not every pound I life between now and then lol ) I will donate .50 cents. So, every 2 lbs = $1. Make sense? The causes that I will be donating to are The Wounded Warrior Project and a Cancer Research foundation. I am openly inviting each of you, if you'd like to join me in this as well.

I want to take this time to thank Nutrex Research for their wonderful products, and all the success I've had with them over the past 3 years. To Fat Gripz for such an amazing product, that I know has helped a few people, including myself be so successful in the gym. To Running Shoes.com, they are a hub and superstore to getting all different kind of shoes, for whatever your fitness needs are. And lastly but not least, to a great small company, Flex Till You're Famous, they understand what it's like to dream big from nothing and become something... Their gear is awesome and comfortable as all get out too...

In closing, I love each and everyone of you, and am proud of y'all for the things you've done with your life...I hope and pray that this go around, I might be able to inspire a few others to better their lives....
